imperial oil

my very first co-op (four months into university) was at imperial oil, at their refinery in small town sarnia, ontario.

i was on the rotating equipment team, responsible for pumps and compressors in the site's utilities plant (steam generation, water treatment, etc). it was a ton of fun. i spent a lot of time outside in the field, and hanging out with some cool machinists/millwrights (shoutout mike p and dan l).

during my time there, i:

•saved the company some money (90k or something light)

•raised the bottom line (kpi's go brrrr)

and i learned there is more to life than shareholder value and i wanted to move on to something more personally fulfilling.
